Start a Business

Do you have a great idea for a great business, but don’t know where or how to get started? Entrepreneurs in the Derry-Londonderry region have access to free and low-cost resources to assist them as they work to make their dreams a reality.

SCORE New Hampshire & Vermont

SCORE New Hampshire & Vermont mentors are experienced business professionals who volunteer their time sharing their expertise to help others start and grow their own businesses.

Planning and starting a small business can be overwhelming. Whether you have a business idea or you’ve just started selling your first products or services, SCORE can help you find your footing.

NH Small Business Development Center

Each year, NH Small Business Development Center (SBDC) supports about 3,000 small businesses across nearly 200 New Hampshire communities with free, confidential advising and education. For over 40 years, its certified advisors have helped more than 124,000 entrepreneurs launch and grow businesses, access capital, and create jobs—making it a trusted resource for small business success.

Finance a Business

In addition to traditional lenders like banks and credit unions, business owners in the Derry-Londonderry Region have access to a number of alternative financing options to assist with start-up or expansion costs.

Regional Economic Development Center

The Regional Economic Development Center (REDC) is a nonprofit alternative lender that provides advising, funding, and support to new and existing companies that have challenges accessing traditional financing in New Hampshire.

The Regional Economic Development Center works in partnership with local lenders, or independently, to help small businesses in New Hampshire secure the funding needed to complete projects leading to job creation. We work closely with entrepreneurs to find the right loan program for them, helping them obtain capital to start or grow their small businesses.

New Hampshire Community Loan Fund

The NH Community Loan Fund brings together impact investors, donors, and partners to provide financing that strengthens communities across New Hampshire. They offer loans for small business and nonprofit growth, invest in affordable housing and energy projects, and help municipalities access and manage grants. As loans are repaid, investors earn returns they can reinvest—creating lasting economic and social impact statewide.

Community Development Finance Authority

The Community Development Finance Authority is the financial engine that drives community economic development across New Hampshire. Created in 1983, we have more than 40 years of experience effectively deploying technical and financial resources to help Granite State communities thrive.

CDFA invests an average of $25 million of financial resources on an annual basis, including the competitive deployment of grants, loans and New Hampshire state tax credit equity, to support nonprofits, municipalities and businesses.

The NH Business Gateway has now centralized more than 100 business-related tools and resources from across State agencies and community partners, removing the guesswork and allowing business owners to move forward with confidence and efficiency. NH Business and Economic Affairs

The Department of Business and Economic Affairs (BEA) is the premier resource for businesses considering expansion in, or relocation to, NH.

Dedicated to enhancing the economic vitality of the state and promoting it as a destination for domestic and international visitors, BEA is comprised of the Division of Economic Development, Division of Planning & Community Development, and the Division of Travel and Tourism Development.

Within these divisions are programs that support BEA’s mission to keep the state’s economy strong and competitive, such as:

  • International trade
  • Government procurement
  • Municipal planning

Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) of New England

To promote veteran participation in the entrepreneurship, the Small Business Administration built the initial Veterans Business Outreach Centers. Now one of 28, the VBOC of New England offers no cost business advising, workshops, training, and community to help veteran entrepreneurs succeed.

NH.gov is the official website of New Hampshire State Government, providing access to various services and information for residents and visitors. It serves as a web portal for the state's network of agency websites, offering resources related to government services, health, education, and more.

The US Small Business Administration (SBA) offers comprehensive guidance for starting, funding, managing, and growing a small business. Explore tools, training, loan programs, and step-by-step resources tailored for entrepreneurs and established business owners alike.

USA.gov Small Business

USA.gov provides an overview of federal resources for small business owners at every stage. It includes guidance on how to start a business, access funding and loans, understand federal regulations, and manage day-to-day operations. The site also connects users to key government agencies and services, making it easier to find the right support for licensing, taxes, hiring, and compliance. As a centralized hub, USA.gov simplifies the process of navigating government resources and helps business owners quickly find reliable, up-to-date information.

IRS Small Business & Self-Employed Tax Center

The IRS Small Business & Self-Employed Tax Center The IRS Small Business & Self-Employed Tax Center helps business owners understand and manage federal tax responsibilities, including applying for an EIN, choosing a business structure, and meeting filing requirements. It offers forms, tools, and guidance on payroll, estimated taxes, deductions, and recordkeeping, along with educational resources to help businesses stay compliant and avoid common tax issues.
